Kirra Hill Lookout

What you can expect

One of the Gold Coast's most picturesque and scenic spots from which to enjoy a barbecue or picnic, Kirra Hill offers an excellent overview of the lovely beach and headland surrounds that make this such a popular beach spot for locals. Views atop Kirra Hill are wonderful, with an outlook that on clear days covers the coastline extending all the way north to Main Beach and south to Snapper Rocks, all accompanied by its iconic iron eagle sculpture that overlooks the proceedings. This is also one of the best spots for sunrise and sunset viewing on the Gold Coast, without any trees obscuring the view and providing a truly uninhibited outlook for photography junkies to acquire some perfect snaps. The Kirra Hill lookout is accessible via a short walk through either a well-kept section of path and garden, or a short and steep drive; parking is limited however, so simply parking nearby at one of the larger carparks and making the walk may be a more viable option during busier periods or if arriving later in the day. Facilities on the top of the hill are well set up to accommodate enjoying lunch there, with two electric barbecues and tables under a shelter. It's also a great spot for on-shore whale watching during their annual migratory period, which takes place from June to October.
