Experience the most popular way to discover and explore up close the World Heritage Listed Wet Tropics Rainforest with Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and the Kuranda Scenic Railway. The Kuranda Scenic Railway is famed for its beautiful route and the fact that it has been servicing the community for over 130 years. Winding through the lush green rainforest, cascading waterfalls and tropical mountain ranges, this is one journey to remember. Skyrail Rainforest Cableway will offer you a truly unique perspective of this ancient landscape where you will glide meter above the pristine canopy before descending to explore the forest floor at the Red Peak and Barron Falls. A one – way Skyrail experience will take around 1.5 hours with time spent at both Red Peak and Barron Falls, where here you can explore the breathtaking lookouts overlooking The Barron Falls (Din Din), historical displays and also enjoy a guided boardwalk tour from a Skyrail Ranger at Red Peak. In Kuranda, you're free to explore at your own pace.
You can visit one of the many great family friendly attractions including Kuranda Koala Gardens, Birdworld and the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, or you could simply just wander around the markets and relax at a local café - the choice is yours. Combining two of the region's must-do experiences and providing you with the chance to explore the gorgeous village of Kuranda, this package brings you great value for money and great sights.

We started our journey with the Skyrail. Then finished it off with the train ride.
It was the most magical and amazing experience we had in Cairns. The level of excitement for my children being held up in the air with the steepest cable car in Cairns. Just simply amazing. The view while on the train was also exemplary. I can do this activity each and every time we go to Cairns
The Beauty of the Rainforest without the long walking
If you are less inclined to exercise but still want to see the beauty of the Tropical Rainforest then definitely book onto the Skyrail and Railway. You will get to see the rainforest with an eagle view, with numerous stops to visit the falls, where the train stops and other sights before hopping back onto the Skyrail all the way up to Kuranda. Plenty of photo opportunities, they are never crowded on the individual cable cars. Also if suitable for all exercise levels whether you're an avid walker or someone who has a toddler/baby in tow with a pram. Recommend doing the Skyrail up to Kuranda, having a few hours to explore the markets - especially the Crepe restaurant. There's also the koala, Bird, and Butterfly sanctuary before hopping back down on the train on the way down. Staff were very accommodating and also provide transport via air-conditioned mini van back from the Freshwater station back to the Skyrail where car was parked Definite must do!
Incredible trip to see the worlds oldest tropical rainforest
The views and rainforest are absolutely stunning! Kuranda itself is a gorgeous little town. There’s a bit of disorganisation at the Skyrail if you wish to take the train first, we also weren’t aware that although you pick a time for the Skyrail back you can come back anytime! This would be good to know. We had sun, rain and wind and loved every bit.
