For the winter season, that means we escape or embrace the cold from our very own backyard. And if you find yourself wanting to enjoy a nice getaway without breaking the bank, we have some nice suggestions of domestic destinations to either lap up the sun or snuggle in the cold. As well as the top experiences you can enjoy at each spot.

Top End, Northern Territory

With 2 distinct climate areas, Top End serves as the tropical destination. And the good news is that the best time visit is winter. It brings less harsh heat and humidity to explore it’s glorious nature in more comfort. It’s the perfect place to visit if you’re interested in seeking warmer areas of Oz. If you’re a lover of hiking, nature, culture and unreal sunsets. Look no further!

Broome, Western Australia

This region welcomes days with 20-30C, and during winter Broome experiences it’s lowest humidity. Making it the perfect time to visit the east coast. Home to the iconic Horizontal Falls, which has been informally claimed as the seventh wonder of the world. It’s a must-visit for those who love nature, beautiful beaches and unique tours. Fun fact: it’s also home to one of the largest collection of dinosaur footprints.

Tropical North Queensland

You might not have guessed it but winter in Australia means snorkelling in the best reef in the world, the Great Barrier Reef. As the lower half of Oz whips out the hot choc and puffer jacket, Tropical North Queensland becomes even more alive with what’s considered the peak of the dry season. This makes it the ideal destination to escape the cold.
